Recently a family friend was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She’s a teacher, so it shouldn’t have been a big deal since she had insurance, except after her diagnosis her insurance dropped her, saying the school she worked for hadn’t been paying her premiums. She has two teenage children who will probably have to watch their mother die.
It goes without saying that cancer treatments are expensive. So to cover the expenses and hopefully save her life, her family is hosting a fundraiser September 30th in Omaha. There will be a chili cook-off, bake sale (including homemade truffles for sale, made by yours truly), poker tourney, and auction. It’ll be held at the Omaha Association for the Deaf, 4050 Hillsdale Avenue, Omaha, NE 68107, and open from 10 AM to 10 PM.
