In Robert Nozick’s “Distributive Justice,” where many of the current Libertarian ideas are spelled out, including the “taxes are theft” idea, he outright says that slavery of course would require some sort of recompense, but as far as historical slavery in the US, he has no idea how to do it and still maintain his framework.
Basically, the ideological father of these ideas came right out and said that for his ideas to work they had to ignore slavery. So any libertarian who espouses those ideas while claiming that they aren’t being ahistorical, racist shitbags is either uninformed or lying.
