Sabrina's SRS Fund
Much as I hate doing it, I finally started a crowdsourced fund thing for my SRS costs. I don’t expect anyone to help support me, and I know nobody really has funds to spare these days, but I figured I’d put one up anyways. If all goes well, I’ll have insurance coverage for SRS in September, along with both of my SRS letters. I’m hoping to schedule for Christmas break. I’ll need around $4000 in out of pocket expenses even with insurance, and if I have to, I’ll take a loan against my 401k. However, anything I can raise before hand lessens the amount of loans I’d have to take, esp. considering the $20k in existing student loan debt I already have. I feel horrible for joining the hundreds of other trans folks doing this, but in this day and age, it almost seems like the only way to get any support. Even if you can’t help, at least thank you for reading this.
I’m working to try to do as much as I can before September when I have to commit with the insurance and the remainder of the deposit. I’m applying to the Jim Collins Foundation for a possible SRS grant, and at this point, I’d be happy if I could just raise the remaining $200 I need to finish paying the non-refundable deposit to Marci Bowers to get a surgery date. I’ve already paid $300 out of my own funds over the last 3 years just towards the deposit. I know everybody’s got hard times these days, but if you can help or pass the word again, I’d appreciate it.
